And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith He unto them, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with Me”. And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt”. And He cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, “What, could ye not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew. 26:37-41

This passage is unlike any moment in history, The Man of sorrows has come to the hour He was sent on this earth for. The agonizing weight of the sin of the world enclosed upon Him to the point of death. As He prayed an angel was sent to strengthen Him. The disciples, however, where overcome with sorrow to the point of sleep. Jesus commanded them to watch and pray, lest they enter into temptation. Being fully God and fully man, He knew they had no strength to withstand the shakings that were coming in this day of His passion, therefore He urged them to pray. Likewise Jesus beckoned His followers to watch and pray for the hour is coming when He will return, Matthew 24:42

In that day and even now we do not have the strength in ourselves to remain faithful in the times of great trials. We must pray! Our prayer is not to deliver us from the trials but that we may be sustained and found faithful in the midst of them. Just as Jesus prayed, not my will but Yours be done

As we join with the Cry Out America movement we are calling all of Wayne County to set our eyes on the only One who can strengthen us to be voices in our workplaces, communities and regions. It is easy to be overcome by the crisis in the land, as the disciples were overcome with sorrow at the turn of events and went to sleep, Luke 22:45.

But Jesus our great intercessor is at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf, it is due time for us to awake and arise from our slumber to contend for our nation. Join us this Patriot Day as Wayne County partners with counties nationwide to call on our Heavenly Father to awaken us for the hour at hand; that when Christ returns He will find a faithful Bride strengthened, watching and waiting
